Union Hospital Physician Recruitment: Our Community

Not far from major metropolitan areas, physicians enjoy a high quality of life in a safe, comfortable community.

Union Hospital's surrounding community offers a rich mix of advantages, not the least of which is a safe, clean environment in which to raise a family.

Our cities and villages offer a blend of the traditional and modern, punctuated by an extensive system of parks, lakes, cultural activities and recreational facilities.

Sports is a way of life in our region with many private and public golf courses as well as numerous lakes for fishing, boating and sailing. Not far from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, we also offer many sports opportunities for youth as well as adults including basketball, baseball, soccer, football, swimming, tennis and more.

Runners, hikers, bikers and families who like to explore have plenty of options including the recreation of the Towpath Trail.  Where mules and barges once maintained the area's commerce, the 110-mile trail from Cleveland to New Philadelphia offers places of tranquility, hidden views of wildlife and artifacts of the original settlers.

Set in the picturesque, rolling hills of eastern Ohio, our region is home to a large Amish community relying on horse-and-buggy travel. By contrast, our interstate highways put us minutes from major airports and the rich cultural benefits of Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh and Akron. Our local airport regularly accommodates many private jets.

Close to home, we have a range of cultural opportunities including Ohio's official outdoor drama, "Trumpet in the Land"; a community theater; a philharmonic orchestra; a dedicated art center; and a constant schedule of presentations by renowned artists and lecturers at our campus of Kent State University.

A growing winery industry now provides a pleasant diversion that attracts many visitors. And, because we were one of the first Christian settlements in Ohio, we are home to a range of well-preserved historical sites and attractions such as Schoenbrunn Village and Zoar.
